Among the aims that Ensemble Terra d’Otranto pursues the production of concerts in wich early music combines with that there is popular repertoire, ancient or traditional, wich between the 16th and 18th century has characterized music and most original poetic works of the ancient Terra d’Otranto and Apulia.
Zoì ce Agapi represents a further contribution to this path.
Music and lyrics of extraordinay beauty, telling about “LIFE and LOVE” (“ZOÌ ce AGAPI” in griko language), of anonymous authors of Terra d’Otranto, are performed together with works by two considerable Apulian musicians of fifteenth and seventeenth century, Gerolamo Melcarne “Il Montesardo” and Jacomo de Gorzanis, and two great Neapolitan masters of the same period, Andrea Falconieri and Diego Ortiz.
For this occasion, ETd’O has hosted in his ensemble musicians with specific practices in popular and early music in order to create and perform a convincing and deeply felt work.
